Cocoa Beach Surf and Fishing Report for Tuesday June 26, 2012

COCOA BEACH, Fla. -- As of 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday June 26, 2012, jelly fish, including Portuguese Man-o-War,  are not present in the water throughout Cocoa Beach from Coconuts on the Beach northward to Jetty Park in Cape Canaveral.

Look for purple flags flying at nearby lifeguard stations which would indicate the presence of jelly fish in the immediate area.  Red Flags indicate dangerous surf conditions including rip currents.

Sargasso seaweed is heavily present on shore and in the water, but is starting to blacken and break apart.

Winds are from the south this morning at 21 miles per hour with gusts of 31 miles per hour.

A strong near shore current is moving northward.

Breaking waves are 1-3 feet and semi-choppy. Surfers will have to wait until the end of the week before waves are generated off shore by Tropical Storm Debby.  Wind surfers will find the conditions challenging due to the winds coming from the south.

Conditions will not be good for surf fishing today due to clouded water, winds and the heavy presence of seaweed.
