Non-Tropical Low Forms In Atlantic Ocean

MIAMI, Florida -- NOAA's National Hurricane Center storm tracker in Miami, Florida has issued a Tropical Weather Outlook at 2:00 p.m. EDT on June 17, 2012 due to the development of a non-tropical low off the coast of North Carolina in the North Atlantic Ocean.

UPDATE:

Well-Defined Non-Tropical Low In Atlantic Ocean

The non-tropical low pressure area is located about 75 miles southeast of Bermuda and is proding an area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.

The National Hurricane Center says that any development of this system as a tropical or subtropical cyclone is expected to be slow to occur as it moves north-northeastward at about 15 miles per hour during the next day or two.

NOAA predicts that this system has a low chance (10%) of becoming a tropical or subtropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.

Tropical Storm formation is not expected during the next 48 hours elsewhere in the North Atlantic.
