SHARPES, FLORIDA -- 32-year-old Irene Isabel Khan of Melbourne,
Florida who was arrested by West Melbourne Police on June 13, 2012 on
sex-related charges involving a 14-year-old student, was released on $50,000 bond today.
The conditions of Khan's bond require that she not have any contact with the victim. Khan is represented by Richard W. Austin, Esq., of the Melbourne law firm Kernan & Austin, L.L.C.
Khan was a science teacher at Imagine School in West Melbourne when
she was alleged to have engaged in sexual activity with a 14-year-old
male student of hers over a period of several months during the
2011-2012 school year.
Charges against Khan include enticing the victim to engage in sexual
activity, committing sexual battery while in authority as an agent of
the government, lewd or lascivious battery by engaging in sexual
activity, and lewd or lascivious molestation.
According to
the 14-year-old male student, Ms. Khan engaged in sexual activity with the victim several times
including in her car, her apartment, and several hotels and motels in the local area.
