7-year-old Autistic Boy Hit By 2 Cars, Dies

ORLANDO, Florida -- The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that a 7-year-old Autistic boy was running from a nearby apartment complex towards Silver Star Road in Orlando, Florida when a yet-to-be identified vehicle traveling westbound on Silver Star Road struck the child.

A 1998 Saturn and a 1994 Honda that were also traveling westbound on Silver Star Road then ran over the boy.  The first vehicle that hit the child fled the scene of the accident.

FHP troopers are still investing who was attempting to catch up with the child as he traveled into the eastbound lanes of Silver Star Road.

UPDATE:  After further investigation of the crash that killed 7-year-old Taariq Cross, FHP troopers now believe that this crash does not involve a hit and run.

Investigating troopers interviewed new witnesses, looked at the two vehicles involved and the injuries sustained by the 7-year-old and determined that the Saturn clipped the child first and then the Honda ran over the child.

This crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
