COCOA, Florida -- The Brevard County
Sheriff’s Office conducted 'Operation Summer Slam' today - a law enforcement sweep designed to target those illegally distributing
prescription medications and other controlled substances operating throughout
central Brevard County.
During
the past several months, narcotics purchases were made throughout the Cocoa
area of Brevard County, Florida. After those purchases were made, 28
arrest warrants were obtained for individuals who law enforcement says are responsible for illegally
selling prescription medications such as Percocet, Lortab, Roxicodone and
Oxycodone.
Charges for each of the
suspects ranged from sale of a controlled substance to trafficking in
controlled substances.
As of 5:00 p.m. today, 23 suspects
have been arrested. Members of the Sheriff’s Office are currently seeking the
remaining wanted suspects.
All of the suspects that were arrested have been transported to the Brevard County
Jail Complex.
