WESH Channel 2 No Longer On Bright House Cable

ORLANDO, Florida -- WESH/WKCF's carriage agreement with Bright House expired last night at 11:59 p.m., leaving Brevard County Bright House viewers without the ability to watch the local Central Florida NBC affiliate.

In its Notice for Bright House subscribers, WESH Channel 2 issued the following statement:

Unfortunately, notwithstanding our best efforts to reach a new carriage agreement, we were unable to do so. As a result, unless there is a change in Bright House's position, carriage of WESH/WKCF will no longer be available to you on Bright House systems.

We cannot predict if or when discussions with Bright House will resume or if or when WESH/WKCF's programming will be restored on Bright House systems.

Our full coverage of the Olympics starts on Friday, July 27.

In light of this impasse, we urge viewers to make alternative arrangements for receipt of our signal. Our signal remains available over the air for free and also on other cable systems, DIRECTV and DISH Network.

We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your loyal support.

Just to clarify a point. Brighthouse did not pull the plug. The parent company of WESH/WKCF, Hearst Television, has decided to black out their signal to Brighthouse in response to the impasse in contract negotiations. Just last week Hearst TV's CEO stated at a congressional hearing that media blackouts are "unfair to the consumers".
I guess that only applies when it comes to other media sources?

WESH is tabloid TV anyway.

Here's the thing, if it was infact wesh that pulled the plug, It also pulled the plug on WKCF, The CW Affiliate, and no alternative has been provided, I think we are likely going to see the CW offer it's affiliation to WRDQ if this continues for a while

Why not just cut the cable cord? Do you enjoy paying for the privilege of watching infomercials? Is cable TV a good value when you turn on the Discovery Channel only to find an infomercial for the NuWave table top oven? Is it a good value when you turn on the History Channel and find an infomercial for the Shark vacuum? Buy yourself an antenna and get over-the-air channels, and save $800 a year if not more.

One down 3 more to go. I'm hopeful.
