Earlier this year, millions watched as the popular novel, The Hunger Games, became a global phenomenon from Lionsgate.
In anticipation of
The Hunger Games DVD
and Blu-ray release on Saturday, August 18, Toys"R"Us®
and Target stores across the country are preparing for for fans
of the first movie based on the popular trilogy to find the latest
products inspired by The Hunger Games.
Target
Target will offer “The Hunger Games,” a special collection of keepsakes and an
exclusive three-disc version of the film with never-before-seen video
from the movie set. These premium items range from $349 to $999 –
Target’s first-ever licensed product offering at this price point – and
will be introduced one per day beginning on August 18 to coincide with the
DVD release.
The keepsakes, available in very limited quantities exclusively on Target.com, include: 14-carat gold replicas of heroine Katniss
Everdeen’s famed Mockingjay pin (the story’s symbol of rebellion), with
100 available at $999 each; leather replicas of Katniss’ hunting jacket,
with 100 available at $349 each; and “The Hunger Games” lithographs
autographed by 10 top cast members including Jennifer Lawrence, Liam
Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, with 100 available for $699 each.

by taking it up a notch for ‘The Hunger Games’ and unveiling a prestige
collection for devoted fans.”
Target’s deluxe edition of “The Hunger Games” for DVD and Blu-ray
features a collectible case and 45 minutes of exclusive content,
including personal video diaries filmed by seven of the movie’s key
Tributes and interviews with the cast about the experience. The special
DVD ($20.99) and Blu-ray ($25.99) are available for preorder now at Target.com.

bonus footage immerse fans in the world of ‘The Hunger Games’ and will

Target is also offering an extensive assortment of additional
merchandise inspired by “The Hunger Games” – from backpacks and lunch
boxes for the back-to-school season to jewelry, pillow cases and
life-size cardboard cut-outs of movie characters Katniss, Peeta and
Gale. The merchandise is available at Target stores and Target.com,
ranging price from $6.99 to $37.99.
Toys 'R' Us
Fans from coast-to-coast are counting down to 12:01am on Saturday, August 18 when The Hunger Games becomes
available on DVD and Blu-ray. To help everyone across the country bring
home the first film based on the blockbuster book series, nearly 100
Toys"R"Us stores in the U.S. will open their doors shortly before
midnight, allowing customers to be among the first to purchase The Hunger Games.
To mark the official release of The Hunger Games on DVD and
Blu-ray, Toys"R"Us Times Square will host a special appearance by
Amandla Stenberg, who played fan-favorite "Rue" in the film, on Saturday, August 18 at 10 am.
Named for the Zulu word for power, the 14-year-old actress has modeled
for Disney and has appeared in numerous national commercials. Recently
appointed as the new child ambassador to No Kid Hungry, Share Our
Strength, Amandla will visit The World's Greatest Toy Store® to meet with and sign autographs.
