John F. (Jack) Beyer, 91, of Satellite Beach, left this earth peacefully on September 12, 2012 to join his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Elizabeth Beyer, who died in November 1996 . He was predeceased by his son, John F. Beyer, parents and brothers Gerald, Arthur and Donald Beyer.


Jack was born on June 6, 1921 to Arthur and Rhea Beyer in Detroit, MI. He worked at A.O. Beyer Coal Company and Ford Motor Company for many years. He served in the US Army Air Corps for 2 years, during World War II. He flew 50 missions in Italy as an engineer gunner on a B24.


In 1964, he and his wife Mary moved with their then 10 children to FL to join his brother Don as co-owner of South Patrick Hardware and Lumber in Indian Harbour Beach, where he worked from 1964 until 2010.


He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.


He is survived by 10 children: (Kathleen), Patricia (Harold) Poole, David (Anne), Michael (Sandra), Donald (Sherry), Mary, Richard (Teresa), Janet (Mary), Barbara, Paul (Robin) and Stephen (Robert). He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.


Jack loved living in FL and never missed the cold and snow of Michigan. He particularly enjoyed golfing, fishing and boating. He was a generous and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.


The family would like to thank VITAS for their loving care and support of Jack and his family. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.


Visitation will be Sunday, September 16 at 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Beach Funeral Home, Indian Harbour Beach. Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11am at Holy Name of Jesus. 
Burial will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens at 1:30pm.

Yvonne-Marie Deese, 60, departed this life for her eternal home in heaven on Friday September 7, 2012. She was the widow of Jeffrey David Knowlton, married for 34 years and was preceded in death by her parents James Henry and Mary Catherine Boyle Deese.


Yvonne-Marie was born August 8, 1952 in Melbourne, FL and was the third daughter of James H. and Mary C. Deese. As the fifth child in a family of ten children, Yvonne-Marie selflessly helped her mother care for her brothers and sisters. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and Melbourne Central Catholic High School. She graduated from Spring Hill College with a degree in Philosophy and Music and completed graduate work at Georgetown University. For many years she worked as a law office manager, paralegal, expert legal consultant, and title-closer. Her legal knowledge and expertise remain well respected in the community.


Yvonne-Marie was and is a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to all. She is remembered as a beautiful, wonderful, and loving mother, sister, and caregiver for her family and friends. She lived a life of hope and trust, joy and love. She loved her children and cared deeply for her family with her gracious and elegant ways and genuine
sense of humor.


Yvonne-Marie became the immediate caregiver for her parents and her husband’s parents throughout their later years while she continued to raise her family. She lived an example of Christian charity and faithful perseverance and was loved by everyone she knew.


Yvonne-Marie is survived by her three children; Jamieson Clark Knowlton of Orlando, FL, Jeffrey David Knowlton II of Pembroke, NC, and Jennifer Regina-Marie Knowlton, MD of Greenville, NC and her husband T. Everett Reynolds. Yvonne-Marie is survived by her brothers and sisters; Mairona Deese-Barry, Sara Deese- Becht, PhD and husband Paul Becht, PhD, James H. Deese II, William Deese and wife Christine, Patrick J. Deese, Thomas M. Deese, Lawrence E. Deese, MD and wife Melody, and Mary W. Deese. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family.


Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Friday September 14 at 11:00 am. Burial services will take place in Savannah, GA at Bonaventure Cemetery on September 17.

Yvonne-Marie Deese graciously cared for all those around her and loved without end.  She will be missed every second of every day.

Robert J Smith, 87, of West Melbourne, FL, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Kindred Hospital, Melbourne, FL.


Robert was born December 24, Christmas Eve, in Shirley, MA. A son of Chester and Anna (LePage) Smith. At 17 years old, on Nov 27, 1942, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the Battleship USS Iowa during World War II. He was a Machinist's Mate, Third Class. On Nov 17, 1945 in Long Beach, CA he married Myrtle (Marie) Beeson. They took a train back to MA where they lived for a year until Robert was discharged from the Navy. Then they packed up their 1945 Plymouth and headed for Texas. When they made a stop to visit Marie's parents, they decided to stay in IL.


Robert got his barber's license and they raised three children. Robert J Smith, Jr., Jack A Smith and Judith A Smith. Robert also worked and retired from Kraft Foods in Champaign, IL. He was a treasured Boy Scout Leader and has remained in touch with many of his scouts until present.


He was an Honorary Lifetime member of the American Legion, post 24 in Champaign, IL for 66 years. For over 20 years Robert and Marie lived in Melbourne, FL. They were HUGE fans of the ocean, taking walks, and remained deeply in love for 60 years until 2005 when Marie passed. They were members of Ascension Church and Robert is known by MANY from his working at the Super Flea Market, Melbourne, FL and from his love of having and going to garage sales. He also worked at Winn Dixie as their Premier Meats Chef (he was an EXCELLENT chef), and also worked at Wal Mart until he was 85 as their Primary Seafood salesman, and was always known to give everyone great cooking advice. He loved life, and was the most optimistic, intelligent, family loving man. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.


He is survived by his brother Harold Smith of Shirley, MA; his children Robert J Smith Jr of Mahomet, IL; Jack A Smith and his wife Carol Smith of Tolono, IL; and Judith A Smith of West Melbourne, FL. He also leaves 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also 2 Huskies, Bella and Zena, that were his greatest fans.


Funeral will be Monday, September 17, 2012 at 2pm at Renner-Wikoff Funeral Home, 1900 S Philo road, Urbana, IL 61802, with a procession to St Marys Cemetery, Champaign, IL for a military Burial service following.
