Mims ATV Crash Victims In Critical, Serious Condition

MIMS, Florida -- Two teenagers and a 12-year-old were airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida after being involved in an ATV accident near Mims, Florida around 5:43 p.m. on Saturday.
 

Phillip Matthew, 17, Morgan Wutlich 17, and Tyler Willhite, 14,  all of Mims, Florida, were each driving three ATV's southbound in the 1900 Block of Hammock Road with Matthew in the lead followed by Wutlich then Willhite.


FHP says that Matthew slowed down and Wutlich was unable to stop.  Wutlich's passenger, 12-year-old Hunter Wade, was ejected off of the ATV and was then ran over by Willhite's following ATV.  The front of Willhite's ATV then struck the rear of Wutlich's ATV.


A trauma alert was issued for Wutlich, Willhite, and Wade.   Air Care helicopters 1, 2, and 3 were dispatched to the scene and transported the patients to the Pediatric Trauma Center at Arnold Palmer.  A landing zone was established at nearby Chain of Lakes Park.


Wade is listed in critical condition while Wutlich is in serious condition.  Willhite suffered minor injuries.


Matthew, Wutlich, and Willhite were issued tickets for illegally driving on a public road.


Matthew and Wutlich were issued tickets for careless driving.


Willhite was issued a ticket for failure to wear a helmet.
