Palm Bay Sex Offender Turns Self In

PALM BAY, Florida -- A registered sex offender on probation for a 1995 sexual battery on a child in Brevard County, Florida surrendered to authorities Tuesday afternoon after allegedly removing the GPS tracker used to monitor him and fleeing on Sunday.
51-year-old Johnny Ray Morgan turned himself in to authorities at the Brevard County Detention Center at 2 p.m. Tuesday.  He is facing charges of violating probation.

Just before noon Sunday, police say that Morgan removed the GPS tracker which triggered an alarm to alert probation officers.   Probation officers immediately contacted Palm Bay Police.  Officers searched the area where Morgan was last known to stay and located the campsite along with the tracking device.
