Palm Bay Sex Offender Turns Self In

BAY, Florida -- A registered sex offender on probation for a
1995 sexual battery on a child in Brevard County, Florida surrendered to authorities Tuesday
afternoon after allegedly removing the GPS tracker used to monitor him and fleeing
on Sunday.
51-year-old Johnny Ray Morgan turned himself in to authorities at the Brevard County
Detention Center at 2 p.m. Tuesday. He is facing charges of violating
probation.
Just before noon Sunday, police say that Morgan removed the GPS tracker which triggered
an alarm to alert probation officers. Probation officers immediately
contacted Palm Bay Police. Officers searched the area where Morgan was
last known to stay and located the campsite along with the tracking
device.
