Brevard Sheriff's Deputies Confiscate Cases of Whipp-Its

COCOA, Florida -- Earlier today, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant on Kronic AM, located at 26 Forrest Avenue in Cocoa, Florida.

Sheriff’s Agents arrested the owner, 37- year-old Brian Woodring, for an arrest warrant relating to the Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with the Intent to Distribute.

The investigation began on March 25, 2013, when Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a store employee for allegedly selling alcohol to a person under 21-years-of-age.  While completing that investigation, Deputies observed several items of alleged drug paraphernalia on display for retail sale.  The items, which are commonly referred to as “Whippets” or “Whip-its”, are filled with nitrous oxide and are inhaled by users.  The items were seized and an arrest warrant was prepared.

On March 29, 2013, Sheriff's Agents responded to the business and arrested Woodring without incident at which time the Deputies discovered the business shelves had been re- stocked with the additional items of alleged paraphernalia for sale.

Woodring was transported to the Brevard County Jail Complex under a $25,000 bond.

"To see children and young adults from all aspects of life ingesting these chemicals with absolutely no idea what it will do to their bodies is truly sad,"  Sheriff Wayne Ivey said.  "Please call the Sh eriff's Office or your local Police Department if you have any questions concerning suspicious items. We can assist by giving you the information needed to help keep your children safe.”

Anyone with information concerning the investigation is urged to call the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division at 321-633-1216 or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477). All calls to CRIMELINE are confidential, and callers can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward for information leading to an arrest.
