Brevard County School Bus Hit While Stopped At Rail Road Crossing
TITUSVILLE, Florida -- The Titusville Police Department responded to a traffic crash involving a Brevard County School Bus and a Chevy Impala on Cheney Highway (State Road 50) at the railroad tracks west of Hopkins Avenue this morning.
The school
bus was occupied by four students, a bus driver and a bus monitor. The
Chevy Impala was occupied only by one female driver.
The school bus was traveling east on Cheney Highway and stopped at the
railroad tracks which is required by Florida law. Police say that the driver of the Impala, which
was also traveling east on Cheney Highway, failed to stop and rear-ended the school bus.
There
were no injuries of the occupants on the school bus. However, the driver of
the Chevy Impala was transported to Parrish Medical Center for minor
injuries.
A second school bus responded to the scene to transport the children to their
schools. Any further information regarding the students, driver, monitor or
condition of the school bus should be directed to the Brevard County School
Board.
Charges are pending the outcome of the Crash Investigation.
