$590.5 million Florida POWERBALL Winner To Be Revealed Today


TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- The owner of the winning ticket in the record-breaking $590.5 million POWERBALL drawing that was sold at a Publix supermarket in Zephyrhills, Florida on May 18 will be revealed at 2:15 p.m. Eastern Time today, Florida Lottery officials said in a statement.  The winner will not be present at today’s press conference.

The jackpot, which past the half-billion dollar mark, is the largest jackpot in the POWERBALL history.  The second largest jackpot was won last Nov. 28, 2012, when a $587.5 million jackpot was shared by two tickets sold in Arizona and Missouri.


The overall odds of winning the POWERBALL jackpot are 1 in 175,223,510. 


POWERBALL jackpot prizes are paid in 30 annual installments or as a one-time, lump-sum payment. Jackpot prizes must be claimed within the first 60 days after the winning draw to receive the cash option of $376.9 million. Winners have 180 days from the applicable drawing to claim their prize.


Since POWERBALL launched in Florida in January 2009, Florida has had the strongest POWERBALL and Power Play sales of any U.S. lottery, exceeding more than $1.8 billion and yielding $756 million in education funding to date.  Additionally, the Florida Lottery has had the most winners in the nation, winning more than $719 million in prizes, including five jackpot winners.
