Elderly Brevard County Couple In Suspected Murder-Suicide Identified

COCOA, Florida -- Investigators with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office have released the identities of an elderly couple that were found dead inside their Cocoa home.

76-Year-Old Patricia Caddell and 89-year-old Scott Caddell, both of 124 Briarwood Court, were found inside their home yesterday after the couple did not show up for a dinner engagement.  The couple had been married for fifty years.

Investigators say that Scott, a United States Navy veteran, has had a decline in his health recently, according to interviews with witnesses who knew the couple.

The preliminary investigation conducted by the Brevard County Sheriff's Homicide Unit leads investigators to believe that the couple’s deaths were the result of a murder/suicide.   A firearm believed to have been used in the incident was recovered at the scene.   At this time, the investigation is still ongoing.

The Brevard County Medical Examiner will be conducting autopsies on both victims. Those examinations are scheduled to be completed later today.
