POWERBALL Winning Numbers August 7, 3013

TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- Strong sales leading up to tonight's POWERBALL drawing has caused lottery officials to increase the estimate for the Wednesday, August 7, 2013 drawing jackpot from $400 to $425 million ($244.7 million cash value), the fourth highest jackpot in U.S. lottery history.

“The noise of a Powerball jackpot climbing to $425 million will grab people’s attention in every city and town across the country and bring them out to play,” said Tom Romero, chairman of the Multi-State Lottery Association’s Powerball Group and CEO of the New Mexico Lottery.

When is tonight's POWERBALL drawing? The over a third-of-a-billion dollar POWERBALL drawing will take place at the Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time  /  9:59 p.m. Central Time  /  7:59 p.m. Pacific Time.

The overall odds of winning the POWERBALL jackpot are 1 in 175,223,510.  The overall odds of winning a Powerball prize are approximately 1 in 31.8.

In addition to the large POWERBALL jackpot prize, players have the opportunity to win lower-tier prizes from $4 to $2 million by matching any of the non-jackpot-winning combinations.  There have been more than 739,000 Florida POWERBALL winners in this series of rollovers, winning more than $11.1 million in prizes.
POWERBALL jackpot prizes are paid in 30 annual installments or as a one-time, lump-sum payment.  Jackpot prizes must be claimed within 60 days after Saturday’s draw to receive the cash option of $244.7 million. Winners have 180 days from the applicable drawing to claim their prize.

Since POWERBALL launched in Florida in January 2009, Florida has had the strongest POWERBALL and Power Play sales of any U.S. lottery, exceeding more than $1.8 billion and yielding $756 million in education funding to date.  Additionally, the Florida Lottery has had the most winners in the nation, winning more than $719 million in prizes, including six jackpot winners.
