Pedestrian Critically Injured In Melbourne Traffic Accident

MELBOURNE, Florida --  A pedestrian is in critical condition following a traffic accident in Melbourne that occurred around 7:39 p.m. tonight at the intersection of Hibiscus Boulevard and Medical Park Drive.

Melbourne police said in a release that 53-year-old Christina Turner of Palm Bay, Florida, was traveling eastbound on Hibiscus Boulevard when the pedestrian, 52-year-old Robert Babcock of Melbourne, stepped out into the roadway in front of the oncoming vehicle. 

Police say that the driver and several witnesses delivered aid to Babcock until first responders arrived.  Babcock remains in critical condition at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne.  No charges pending in this case.
