Dense Fog Across Central Florida


MELBOURNE, Florida -   The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Special Weather Statement due to low visibilities in fog this morning from Brevard County and Osceola County northward across Central Florida. 


As of at 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, areas of thicker fog were observed where some visibilities were reduced to 400 yards or less.


NWS advises that morning commuters should use low beam headlights, slow down in the fog, and allow plenty of following distance.

EXPECT SHALLOW...BUT LOCALLY DENSE FOG TO FORM IN LOCATIONS NORTH OF
LINE FROM LAKE KISSIMMEE TO MELBOURNE...WHERE SKIES HAVE REMAINED
MOSTLY CLEAR TO PARTLY CLOUDY.

MOTORISTS DRIVING ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS AND SECONDARY ROADS IN THESE
COUNTIES EARLY THIS MORNING SHOULD PREPARE FOR RAPID VISIBILITY
CHANGES DURING THEIR COMMUTE. YOU MAY WANT TO LEAVE A LITTLE EARLIER
THAN NORMAL TO GIVE YOURSELF PLENTY OF TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION
IN CASE YOU HAVE TO DRIVE AT A REDUCED SPEED. WHEN DRIVING IN DENSE
FOG...USE ONLY YOUR LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS...REDUCE YOUR SPEED...AND
LEAVE EXTRA DISTANCE BETWEEN YOUR VEHICLE AND THE ONE IN FRONT OF
