Cocoa Woman Dies In Brevard County Crash

COCOA, Florida -- The Florida Highway Patrol reported that just after 3 p.m. on Saturday, a Cocoa woman died from injuries she sustained in a vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of State Road 520 and Lake Poinsett Road in Cocoa, Florida.


77-year-old Jene Holland was stopped northbound on Lake Poinsett Road in a 2007 Cadillac 4-door at a stop sign.  Meanwhile, 54-year-old Luther Aubrey of Orlando, Florida was driving a 1999 Ford Pickup westbound on State Road 520 in the outside lane.



According to FHP,  Holland attempted to cross the intersection traveling in a northerly direction and drove into the direct path of the Ford.  The front of the Ford struck the right side of the Cadillac.  Both vehicles then rotated to the left and traveled onto the westbound shoulder.  The Ford overturned after the impact.


A passenger in the Ford, 54-year-old Randy Jones of Hollywood, Florida, was transported to Wuestoff Medical Center with serious injuries.  Aubrey sustained minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital.


All crash victims were wearing their seat belts. 


The crash remains under investigation.
