UF Football and Basketball Games Overlap On Jan. 3
BREVARD COUNTY, Florida -- Football or basketball what’s a Gator fan to watch? It’s never before happened before! The Space
Coast Gator Club will be hosting watch parties for both the University of Florida’s football and
basketball teams at the same time.
That's because on Saturday, January 3rd, the Birmingham Bowl football game between UF vs. East Carolina
begins at 12:00 p.m. and the UF basketball team has a game versus UCONN at 2:00 pm.
“This is the first
time we have been faced with this type of situation. I guess we will split TV’s between football and
basketball after halftime. It’s a “Gator Doubleheader" [that] should make for interesting watch
parties,” says Rich Rosa Director of Community Service and Membership.
All four watch party locations will show the first half of the football game and then divide the room
between the football and basketball games. The watch parties are open to the public and Gator
fans might want to arrive early to ensure a good vantage point if you want to see both games, at
the same time.
The Gator club’s official watch party locations are Broken Barrel Tavern, Palm Bay, Old School
Pizza Midtown, Melbourne, Normans Raw Bar and Grill, Cocoa, and Dixie Crossroads, Titusville.
