Volunteer Divers Clean Up Indian River Lagoon Bottom
MERRITT ISLAND, Florida -- On Saturday, April 18th, the Kennedy Space Center Dive Club
supported Keep Brevard Beautiful’s annual “Trash Bash” clean-up by
diving into the Banana River that comprises a large portion of the Indian River Lagoon system.
“The Barracudas have been proud to support Keep
Brevard Beautiful’s river clean-ups for over 15 years," said Club President,
Terry Keeney. "We can go places
that most people just can’t reach!”
The divers are pictured above with
the 250 pounds of trash that were recovered from the river bottom, below
the SR-528 bridge, just east of Merritt Island, Florida. Pictured (from L. to R.)
