Brevard County Sheriff's Office Identifies Cocoa Shooting Victim

COCOA, Florida - The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has identified a Cocoa, Florida man who died as a result of injuries he sustained from a gunshot wound early Tuesday night.
Investigators say that a disagreement between 28-year-old George Dewey and
another person escalated into a violent encounter that occurred on Venus Drive in
Cocoa. During the encounter, detectives say that Dewey and at least one other individual, who is not
being identified at this time, exchanged gunfire which ultimately resulted in Dewey's death.
No arrests have been made at this time
and Homicide agents and Crime Scene investigators are continuing to conduct
interviews and evaluate evidence. Detectives will forward their findings to the State
Attorney’s Office once the investigation is completed.
