MELBOURNE, Florida - The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for East Central Florida that will remain in effect until 4 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Winds will become southerly and increase to 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 to 30 mph this morning and afternoon. These winds will create choppy conditions on open lakes and other bodies of water which will make operation of small boats potentially hazardous and prone to capsizing.

This advisory is in effect for Brevard County, Volusia County, Orange County, Osceola County, Lake County, Seminole County, Indian River County, Okeechobee County, Martin County, and St. Lucie County.

A small craft advisory is also in effect for the Atlantic coastal waters from Flagler Beach south to Jupiter Inlet.
