Cold Temps, Strong Winds For Florida's Space Coast

BREVARD COUNTY, Florida - Considerable high clouds and a brisk northwest breeze will produce below average temperatures across central Florida today, including on the Space Coast. Temperatures will struggle to break the 60 degree mark which is generally 10 to 15 degrees below average.

Widespread temperatures in the 30's are expected across east central Florida tonight. The cold temperatures will combine with light winds to produce areas of frost early Thursday morning. If you plan on being outdoors tonight and early Thursday morning, be sure to dress appropriately for the cold temperatures.

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for East Central Florida that will remain in effect from noon today until 6 p.m. this evening. This advisory is in effect for Brevard County, Volusia County, Orange County, Osceola County, Lake County, and Seminole County.

Winds will increase to 20 mph with gusts of 30 mph out of the west to northwest this afternoon. These winds will create choppy conditions on open lakes and other larger bodies of water which will make operation of small boats potentially hazardous and prone to capsizing.

A Small Craft Advisory is also in effect for all coastal waters out to 60 nautical miles. There will be a high rip current threat along area beaches today - particularly after midday.
