More Rain, Gusty Winds For Brevard County Today

UPDATE: By mid afternoon, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms had formed along and north of the the I-4 Corridor and were pushing east toward the Space Coast at 10 mph. These storms will produce brief periods of moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds north of a line from Poinciana to Cocoa Beach. Shower and thunderstorms activity will be highest in the is area through late afternoon.

BREVARD COUNTY, Florida - Florida's Space Coast will have more wet weather on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida.

Deep moisture will remain in place across east Central Florida today, with scattered to locally numerous showers and lightning storms expected once again. The greatest coverage of storms is expected from the I-4 corridor eastward to Ormond Beach and Cape Canaveral.

Today's storms will move east at around 10 mph, and be capable of producing dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning, up to around 2 inches of rainfall in a 60 to 90 minute period, and wind gusts to around 40 mph.

Temporary minor flooding of roadways and poor drainage areas may occur. Never drive through water of an unknown depth. Instead, seek an alternate route.
