Significant Weather Advisory For Brevard County

BREVARD COUNTY, Florida -- The National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida has issued a Significant Weather Advisory for all of Brevard County that will remain in effect until 5:30 p.m.

At 4:36 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, doppler radar was tracking a developing band of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from west near Scottsmoor to Port Saint John to Cocoa and Kenansville. The storms are moving east at 15-20 mph.

Locations impacted include Palm Bay, Melbourne, Titusville, Rockledge, and Cocoa.

Wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph will be possible with these storms.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
