Verizon To Waive Overage Charges For Customers Impacted By Hurricane Matthew

For customers in qualified areas in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina from Oct. 7 through Oct. 11, Verizon Wireless will waive  talk, text and data overage charges due to Hurricane Matthew.


"We know wireless communication is essential to stay in touch with loved ones, contact emergency resources and help with recovery efforts related to a hurricane like the one devastating the east coast," the wireless company stated in a release.

“Our customers expect an industry-leading network performance, especially when severe weather hits,” said Roger Tang – president, South East Market for Verizon Wireless. “Thanks to the extensive preparations of our network team, our network has remained strong in the wake of this storm. That strength, when coupled with this offer, means that our customers can stay connected when it matters most.”

Verizon Wireless customers who wish to help with Hurricane Matthew Relief efforts, via mobile phone, can donate by texting 80100 with the word "MATTHEW". Customers will receive a text response asking them to confirm the $10 donation. By texting their billing zip code, the user agrees to the terms and conditions. Donations are collected for the benefit of the GlobalGiving—Hurricane Matthew Relief Fund.
