Significant Weather Advisory For Southern Brevard County



BREVARD COUNTY, Florida - The National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida, has issued a Significant Weather Advisory that will remain in effect until 6:15 a.m. for southern Brevard County, Florida on May 1, 2017.

...SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR CENTRAL INDIAN RIVER AND SOUTHERN
BREVARD COUNTIES UNTIL 615 PM EDT...

At 5:10 p.m EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Camp Holly Fish Camp to 9 miles southwest of Palm Bay to Blue Cypress Lake. Movement was northeast at 20 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include Palm Bay, Melbourne, Rockledge, Sebastian and Vero Beach.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If on or near the St. Johns River, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
