Tornadoes, Severe Storms Possible Across Brevard County

Severe thunderstorms with the potential of tornadoes are possible across East Central Florida on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida.

Cloud-to-ground lightning strikes, brief gusty winds up to 50 mph, and very heavy rainfall will be the most significant weather threats from storms.

A brief tornado cannot be ruled out due to the presence of stronger atmospheric winds created by an upper low over the Gulf of Mexico that will combine with high moisture and daytime instability.

Storms are expected to increase in coverage and intensity around mid-day and during the afternoon while moving toward the east-to-northeast at 25 to 30 mph.
