Flash Flood Warning For Central Brevard County

BREVARD COUNTY, Florida - The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Central Brevard County that will remain in effect until 11:30 PM EDT.

At 8:24 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges continue to indicate heavy rain falling from persistent rain bands across much of Brevard County.

Measured rainfall amounts up to 4 to 6 inches have already occurred from Satellite Beach and Melbourne northward through Cape Canaveral, Cocoa and Merritt Island, and additional heavy rainfall up to 2 to 3 inches will be possible across this region.

Farther south, amounts will not be as heavy, but moderate rain combined with amounts up to 8 to 10 inches that have already fallen from West Melbourne area, as well as Melbourne Beach southward through Floridana Beach will continue flooding issues.

This heavy rainfall will lead to flash flooding, with roadways becoming impassable and water potentially entering some homes.
