Two Dead In Maryland CSX Train Derailment
BALTIMORE, Maryland -- At approximately 12:02 a.m. EDT, a freight train derailed on an overpass at Main
Street in Ellicott City which lies just outside of Baltimore. Two young women killed during the derailment.
According to CSX, there were two locomotives and 80 loaded coal
cars traveling from Grafton, West Virginia, to Baltimore, Maryland.
The National Transportation Safety Board has dispatched a team to
investigate the accident.
CSX said in a statement that it "wishes to offer its sincere
condolences to their families. The company is supporting the
investigation of the site under the direction of the National
Transportation Safety Board."
No other injuries are known at this time.
