Mobile Home Catches Fire In Mims
MIMS, Florida -- Brevard County Fire Rescue
firefighters were dispatched at 8:02 p.m. for a reported structure fire at the
3000 block of Irwin Avenue in Mims, Florida.
BCFR spokesperson Lt. Jeffrey Taylor said in an email that Engine 22 arrived at 8:09 p.m. and found a single-wide mobile
home with flames showing from the front side of the home. Crews stretched hand lines to the interior of
the home, performed a search of the structure, and found it to be vacant. With no life safety issues found, firefighters
moved to the exterior of the mobile home and achieved a quick knockdown on the
main body of fire.
With the bulk of the fire extinguished, firefighters
reentered the home to search for fire extension and complete overhaul.
A downed power line at one corner of the home created a safety
hazard for firefighters working on the scene but electricity was quickly
disconnected by Florida Power & Light employees who were dispatched to the
incident.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. State and local fire investigators have been requested at the scene and are currently en route. No injuries
were reported.
