Former Ormond Beach Police Officer Arrested
DAYTONA BEACH, Florida -- Agents with the
Florida Department of Law Enforcement Orlando Regional Operations Center
Daytona Beach Field Office arrested Mathew Karparis, 32, of Daytona
Beach, Fla., for two counts of obtaining a controlled substance by
fraud. Karparis is a former Ormond Beach Police Officer.
The
investigation began in July of this year when FDLE received a complaint
from the Ormond Beach Police Department that Karparis was allegedly
attempting to obtain controlled substance by fraud.
According
to investigators, they developed probable cause that Karparis had
obtained prescriptions from numerous doctors in the Central Florida
area.
Karparis resigned from his position at the Ormond Beach Police Department prior to the completion of the FDLE investigation.
Karparis was booked into the Volusia County Jail, and his bond was set at $1000.00.
