Volusia Deputies: Men Duct Tape, Glue Florida Teen
DAYTONA BEACH, Florida -- Volusia County deputies were dispatched to a residence on Alcazar Street, situated in a stretch of property sandwiched between Daytona Beach and Holly Hill, Florida, after receiving a call at 4:49 p.m. yesterday about a fight.
When deputies arrived, the first person they encountered was 18-year-old Kevin Wiseman. Deputies say Wiseman proceeded to tell them that he and two of his friends, 19-year-old Dustin Ardillo and 21-year-old Charles Westenhouser, went to a 16-year-old boy's house earlier that day and asked him if he wanted to participate in a rap contest.
At some point, according to Wiseman's account to deputies, he and his friends decided it would be fun to bind the teen with duct tape. While outside the house, the trio allegedly bound the teen’s hands and ankles in duct tape and also covered his mouth with tape. Then they allegedly put glue on a chair and sat the teen on the chair to see if he would stick to it. Wiseman allegedly claimed that the teen was laughing and going along with what was happening. Another member of the trio said it all was supposed to be a joke and that they wanted to make a funny video to post on the internet.
The teen, however, told a different story to deputies and said he didn’t like it at all being bound in duct tape and glued to the chair and that it was all done against his will. He also said the three threatened to buzz cut his hair and put him in a dresser. When they left to get some hair clippers, the teen said he was able hop his way into the house and start unbinding himself. When deputies arrived, he still had glue residue on his wrists, ankles and pants. While the teen was freeing himself from the duct tape, an adult -- 53-year-old Michael Delvecchio -- showed up at the house and became enraged by what had been done to the teen.
Just then, Wiseman showed back up and he and Delvecchio started fighting. When Wiseman left, Delvecchio, who was armed with a 24-inch metal level, drove off looking for the three. He found them on nearby Valencia Avenue, then got out of his car and allegedly started angrily swinging the level -- at first striking some mailboxes, but then hitting Ardillo on the side of the head. Deputies say Wiseman then threw a flashlight at Delvecchio and hit him in the head.
As the fight continued, Delvecchio allegedly struck Wiseman with the level and also choked him while the two were rolling around on the ground. When it was all over, Wiseman had sustained abrasions to his back, shoulder, elbow and face and Delvecchio sustained a laceration to the side of his head.
Ardillo, Westenhouser and Wiseman were arrested on charges of kidnapping and child abuse and transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach. Deputies also filed a complaint affidavit with the State Attorney’s Office charging Delvecchio with aggravated battery.
