Man Shot Dead After Traffic Argument In Melbourne

MELBOURNE, Florida -- On Saturday, March 30, 2013, at approximately 9:36 a.m., the Melbourne Police Department responded to the area of Babcock Street and Brevard Drive in reference to a shooting.
Officers
arrived on scene and found one man shot. Brevard County Fire Rescue responded to treat John A. Sherwood and transported him to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida. Police say that Sherwood eventually succumbed
to his injuries.
The initial information is leading investigators to believe an argument over a
driving disagreement started the incident. “We are aware of all parties involved in this incident
and we are currently following up on all available information. This is an extremely involved
investigation” Lt. Lynch said.
64-year-old William Fanton Sherwood is being charged with 2nd
Degree Homicide. He is currently being processed at the Melbourne Police
Department and afterwards he will be transported to the Brevard County Jail. He
will remain in custody without a bond until he has his initial appearance
tomorrow morning.
The Melbourne Police Department is currently investigating this incident and more
