Florida Man Killed After Touching His Male Roommate's Knees
PALM BAY, Florida -- A 35-year-old man is in
custody under a $500,000 bond after a late-night fight with a roommate
ended in a homicide. James Lindsey, faces a charge of 2nd Degree Murder
for the death of his roommate, Christopher Earl, age 28.
Shortly before 11 p.m. Monday, Earl’s girlfriend called 911 to report a fight at her home
located at 551 Birch Street SW in Palm Bay, Florida. The woman lives there with Earl
and another couple identified
as Linsdey and his girlfriend, along with some children who were also in the home.
Earl's girlfriend attempted to intervene to stop the fight - but was
unsuccessful. When Earl became unconscious, she called for help.
When paramedics arrived at the home, Earl
was not breathing. He was taken to the hospital where he was later
pronounced deceased.
Police spokesperson Yvonne Martinez said in an email that the
investigation revealed the two men residing in the home had been
drinking alcohol and - at some point during the evening - Lindsey became
upset with Earl for reasons unknown to police. When Earl
approached Lindsey and touched his knees, Lindsey attacked Earl and the
fight began.
“It appears the suspect became annoyed with the victim [Earl]
and just took it way too far,” said Palm Bay Police Detective Virginia Kilmer. “The
victim’s girlfriend tried to stop the fight, but
was unable to do so.”
Lindsey will face a judge at 1:15 p.m. today at the Brevard County Jail in Sharpes, Florida. The charge of 2nd Degree Murder is a first degree felony punishable by up to life in prison if convicted.
