Man Killed In Titusville Car Crash

TITUSVILLE, Florida – One man was killed and another seriously injured on Thursday
afternoon after the car they were traveling in crashed into trees on Fox Lake Road in
Titusville just after 4:00 p.m.
An adult male who was driving the 2001 Black Pontiac Firebird was pronounced deceased shortly
after the crash. The adult male passenger was seriously injured and was transported to the
hospital by helicopter.
Police say that the preliminary crash investigation revealed the two-door sports car was traveling
eastbound in the 4000 block of Fox Lake Road at a high rate of speed. The vehicle
crossed over to the oncoming lane, left the roadway, and struck several trees. The rear of
the vehicle was sheared off from the impact.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in this crash. The names of the victims
will be released when positive ID is made and families have had time for notifications.

UPDATE: Officials have released the names of the crash victims. RICHARD ECKHARDT, 51, of Titusville, was the driver who died. PAUL E. NASH, 52, of Titusville, who is in critical condition, was the passenger.
