Brevard Deputies Search For Gunman After Cocoa Shooting

COCOA, Florida -- Brevard County Sheriff's investigators are searching for a gunman following an early morning shooting in Cocoa, Florida that left one man fatally injured.
At approximately 1:19 a.m. today, Brevard County Sheriff's deputies responded to Lakeview Boulevard for a 911 call advising that a person had been shot. When deputies
arrived, they found 20-year-old Lavonte Ingram unresponsive with life-threatening gunshot
wounds. Ingram was transported to Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge, Florida where he later succumbed to his
injuries.
Witnesses told investigators that a large crowd had gathered in the parking area when a black male
approached the group and began firing a handgun in the direction of Ingram . Ingram was
struck and fell to the ground. The assailant was last seen fleeing on foot from the scene.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and an autopsy is currently scheduled to take
place today at the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s office.
